RMHC of Central PA is solely operated with funds raised through donations made by individuals, organizations and corporations in the communities we serve.
There are different volunteer opportunities including providing meals for the Ronald McDonald House and snacks for the Ronald McDonald Family Room, deep cleaning the Ronald McDonald House or volunteering at a special event. Requesting A Room FAQ
A “home-away-from-home” for families of pediatric patients who are seeking critical medical care at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital.
Families of pediatric patients under the age of 21 being treated at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital. Patients over the age of 17 must be a full-time student/dependent child. Parents under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult relative or legal guardian during their stay.
Families must reside outside of the immediate Harrisburg/Lebanon area – at least a 30 minute drive from Hershey. (Priority will be given to families traveling greater distances.)
NO; you should call the House to make a room request when you need a room or as soon as you know your future arrival date. Rooms are filled on an “as available” basis and cannot be guaranteed until the scheduled day of arrival. The House may be full and operating on a wait list basis when you call.

The maximum number is 4. Some rooms can only accommodate 3 adults. Cribs are available. (Additional guests are subject to advance manager approval and maximum safe capacity)
Guests must check in and complete an orientation between the hours of 9:00 AM and 8:00 PM before using the facility. Registered guests have 24 hour key access to the building.
Yes. If you are on the wait list because the House is full, you must call back at least once daily until space is available. Discounted motel rates are available at local properties for lodging alternatives until rooms become available at the House.

Any personal items that you may need while away from home. You will have clean bed linens and towels provided when you check in. We also have an assortment of personal care items (shampoo, soap, etc.) and food items for use during your stay.

Ronald McDonald Family Room FAQ
A place to relax, take a break from the hospital environment and regroup.
The Ronald McDonald Family is located on the 7th floor of M.S. Hershey Penn State Medical Center, just off the south elevator, steps away from the NICU, NCCU, and PPCU units
- Community Space: relax, rest or sleep
- Shower: towels and personal care items are available
- Small Kitchen: microwave, refrigerator, snacks, coffee
- TV Area
- Laundry facilities
RMHC of Central PA supports the lounges with volunteers and supplies and they are located just off the 3rd and 4th floor elevators in the Children’s Hospital. The lounges support Pediatric Acute, Hemoc/Oncology, PIMC, and PICU.
Family Services offered at the 3rd and 4th floor lounges
- Small kitchen: refrigerator, microwave, snacks, coffee
- TV Area
- Daily visits by the Ronald McDonald Hospitality Cart, which delivers refreshments, snacks, arts and crafts, personal care items, and much more to pediatric patients and their families. The cart was generously donated by Hershey Entertainment & Resorts.

The rooms which include couches which convert to beds, a kitchen, located steps away from the pediatric intensive care unit at Penn State Hershey Medical Center, or the family lounges located in the new Penn State Health Children’s Hospital. There are also volunteer opportunities to pull the new “Hospitality Cart” to deliver refreshments, snacks and personal care items to families whose children are patients at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital. The “Hospitality Cart” was generously donated by Hershey Entertainment & Resorts.
