Valentine’s Day Visit
Eight months ago, our son Parker was born with a congenital heart defect and had to be rushed to Penn State Health Medical Center. He had open-heart surgery at 13 days old. It just breaks your heart.
I stayed at the Ronald McDonald House for nine weeks while Parker was being treated in the hospital. My husband, Todd, had to return to work but spent as many nights here with us as he could on his days off.
Until you’re going through this, until you have to rely on other people, you have no idea what it means to you to come down and say, there’s fresh coffee. Or you don’t know what you’re going to do and then you come back and somebody made dinner. It’s wonderful because it is like a home away from home.
Doctors took care of Parker’s heart and Ronald McDonald House took care of ours.
