The Lapp Family

A Letter from the Lapp Family

When I was pregnant with my daughter, Arianna, the doctors told me that I was high-risk. They recommended that I stay close by the Hershey Medical Center because the 45-minute commute from our home was simply too far. That is when we found out about the Ronald McDonald House® in Hershey.

We felt blessed to be able to stay at the Ronald McDonald House as we awaited the arrival of our daughter. Shortly after Arianna’s birth, we were able to check-out and return to our home in Richland, PA.

A few years later, when we were preparing to deliver our son, Carson, I knew that we would have a home at the Ronald McDonald House if we needed it.

Carson was born with Atrioventricular Canal Defect, a hole between the chambers of the heart, which would require surgery. As Carson began his stay in the NICU, we found ourselves once again checking into the Ronald McDonald House so we could be close by.

Four and a half weeks after he was born, he underwent surgery. If it wouldn’t have been for the Ronald McDonald House, I wouldn’t have been able to be there for my son, while still caring for my daughter.

My husband Isaac travels back and forth from home to visit our family all while still working a full-time job. He loves the Ronald McDonald House because he knows when he is not here, we are safe and in good hands. It has truly taken all of the outside burdens off of our family and given us, as parents, the opportunity to focus solely on our children.

To all of the volunteersstaff, and donors that make this place possible, thank you. What you do is worth it – all that you do is appreciated and worth it.

Sincerely, Sarah Lapp
