Make a Difference for Families with Sick Children

Volunteers make a significant difference in the lives of the families that rely on Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Central PA. Your support as an individual or group allows us to keep families close during their moment of greatest need.

Our volunteers help provide comfort and care to our families as well as provide critical operational support to our core program.

For questions about any of these volunteer opportunities please contact Alyssa Noel, Volunteer & Operations Manager at 717-533-4001 x158.

For occasional volunteering, and for kids 12-18 years of age and their parent/guardian/responsible adult, we offer a BAKING program here at the House every day from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. We have a limit of eight bakers in the kitchen at one time.

During the 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. time slot, we have one individual, group or family come to the RMH to bake. We distribute these homemade treats to our families here at the House and to the families across the street in the Ronald McDonald Family Room and on the Hospitality Cart at Penn State Children’s Hospital.

We need muffins, cookies, brownies, whoopie pies, cookie bars, etc. Items that can be easily wrapped and stored/frozen works best. We request that you don’t make anything that will be messy or get ruined when wrapped (for example, no full-size cakes or cupcakes with icing, please).  Muffins are our most needed item, as we use them on our Family Room Cart. The families love these special feel-good treats and truly appreciate those who take the time to bake for this program.

We supply all the baking equipment you will need like mixers, pans, cupcake tins, etc. We do ask that you bring your own ingredients – box mixes, eggs, oil, milk and anything else you may need.
