First Lady and Wolf Administration Volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House in Hershey for Inauguration Day of Service
Hershey, PA – On Monday, January 14th, Governor Tom Wolf, First Lady Frances Wolf, along with members of Wolf Administration took part in a Pre-Inauguration Day of Service. All participants were divided up into groups and volunteered at different organizations throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
“It is important to be an example that both public and private individuals can come together for a common cause,” First Lady, Frances Wolf said. “We are all a part of one community and can engage civically and make a difference.”
The First Lady, along with six other members of the Wolf Inauguration Committee, volunteered with our Baking Program at the Ronald McDonald House in Hershey. As the Wolf family previously had a family member stay at our house, Frances was honored to visit the house and be able to give back to families like her own.
“I have never been to the house before and thought that this would be a great opportunity to see where my family members previously stayed and to learn more about the organization as a whole,” Frances said.
The First Lady wanted to do a fun activity with her group but something that was also rewarding for the Day of Service. She was truly impressed with everything that is offered to our families at no cost to them.
“Your organization (RMHC-CP) is playing a big role in our communities by offering services that no one has to pay for,” Frances said. “It is an equal opportunity for parents and families in need during the most vulnerable time of their lives.”
The group baked blueberry and cinnamon muffins for our families and enjoyed a tour of the house during their visit.
We asked Frances what her favorite thing to bake at home is and her answer was simply, “Apple Pie.”
