Shamrock Shake® Season Returns to Support RMHC Central PA
Shamrock Shake Season is Here in Central PA! 🍀

Now through March 21, participating McDonald’s® restaurants in Central PA are turning a fan-favorite treat into meaningful support for families with children in need of healthcare. A portion of proceeds from every Shamrock Shake® and OREO® Shamrock McFlurry® purchased goes to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central PA, helping families stay close to the care they need.
Thanks to the generosity of local McDonald’s Owner/Operators, RMHC of Central PA can provide:
- A place to stay for families at Ronald McDonald House in Hershey
- Meals and snacks for families while their child is in the hospital
- Support and resources that help families stay close to their child during treatment
A Sweet Tradition, Making a Real Difference
Since its debut in 1970 as the St. Patrick’s Day Shake, the Shamrock Shake has inspired devoted fans, pop culture references, and even a shake-tracking app. But beyond the fun of this seasonal treat, it has a long history of helping families when they need it most.
The very first Ronald McDonald House in Philadelphia, opened in 1974, was funded in part by proceeds from early Shamrock Shake sales. The goal was simple: give families of hospitalized children a safe, supportive place to stay close to care. Local McDonald’s Owner/Operators and supporters helped turn that vision into reality—a tradition that continues today right here in Central PA.
You can celebrate the legacy of the Shamrock Shake at your local McDonald’s restaurant until March 21, 2026.
